The Hilton Nairobi is strategically located a block away from the Kenyatta International Conference Center (KICC). It takes approximately 6 minutes to walk from one venue to the other.

The Jomo Kenyatta International (JKIA) airport is located 18km away (or 30 minutes) from the Hilton Nairobi, depending on traffic, which can be heavy at times. Please allow for enough time when travelling by car in Nairobi.

Visa Requirements

Visa Requirements

As of September 2015, Kenya will no longer be issuing Visas on Arrival. Participants must apply for a Tourist Visa in advance by using the eVisa portal: http://evisa.go.ke/evisa.html

Single Entry Visa application process should begin at least one month prior to the expected date of entry.

Nationals from the following countries are not required to obtain a visa to enter Kenya:

Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Botswana, Brunei, Burundi, Cyprus, Dominica, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Fiji, Gambia, Ghana, Grenada, Jamaica, Jordan, Kiribati, Lesotho, Malawi, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Namibia, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Samoa, San Marino, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Solomon Islands, South Africa, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Swaziland, Tanzania, Tonga, Trinidad & Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

Partner organisations are responsible for ensuring that their staff and panelists are registered through the TDS website. TDS online registration will remain open until 11 December 2015.
All partners and panelists must be registered online to ensure that a badge is available upon their arrival.

Yellow fever
Under the International Health Regulations Act, any person travelling from, or through, a Yellow fever endemic area is required to provide proof of having a valid Yellow fever vaccination prior to entering Kenya. Should you not be able to show proof of a yellow fever vaccination, you have the option of being vaccinated on site (at your own cost) or being placed in quarantine for 6 days.

Malaria
Nairobi falls outside the malaria risk area in Kenya, therefore, visitors need not to take precautions relating to contracting malaria.

The Kenyan Shilling (KES) exchange rate is approximately 1 USD to KHS 101.80 and 1 Euro to KES 113.68.

Languages
The official languages spoken in Kenya are English and Kiswahili.

Time Zone
Kenya is three hours ahead of Greenwich Meridian Time (GMT +3).

Electricity
The voltage in Kenya is 220-240 volts. Delegates from countries with a different voltage would require a transformer unless the appliance has a multi-voltage option. The primary socket types are the three-pin type G British BS-1363 plugs.

Climate
Nairobi has a moderate climate and tends to be less hot than the rest of Kenya. Since the city is near the equator, there is little variations between seasons; there are only two season which are referred to as the wet and dry season. Between the months of November to February, the weather is warm and pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 10 ᵒC (50 ᵒF) to 25 ᵒC (77 ᵒF). Between the months of June and August, the weather is mild and cooler.
