Ambassador Nathan Irumba has had a long diplomatic career specializing in Multilateral Diplomacy especially Trade Negotiations. He was Uganda’s Ambassador to the United Nations Office in Geneva, and the World Trade Organization from 1996 to 2004 .He was for long the Chief Negotiator of Uganda in WTO trade negotiations. He was Coordinator of LDC’s in WTO, Chairman of the Commonwealth Group of Developing Countries in World Trade Organization and a Founder Member of the Like Minded Group of Countries (LMG) in WTO which spearheaded efforts for addressing Developmental Concerns in the Doha Round. He was chairman of the WTO Committee of Trade and Development from 2001 to 2002 and he also chaired a number of functional commissions of UNCTAD.He has been a member of Uganda’s delegation to all WTO Ministerial Conferences from 1996 up to date and several UNCTAD Ministerial Conferences. He served as Director and Head of the Multilateral Organizations and Treaties Department in the Uganda Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1988 to 1996. He also served as Ambassador/Deputy Head of Mission to the Uganda Permanent Mission in UN New York and also served in Uganda missions in London and Paris. He has been a member of Uganda delegation to several conferences of UN, UNCTAD, Commonwealth, non align countries and African Union. He Studied at Makerere University College (Formerly part of University of East Africa) and; The College of Law, Chancery Lane London UK.
