Executive Director, Eastern Africa Grain Council
Gerald is the Executive Director of the Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC), since March 2011. EAGC is a regional membership organization for grain value chain stakeholders who include grain farmers/producers, traders/warehouse operators, grain handlers, processors/millers and other associated organizations such as financial institutions, insurance, logistics and input suppliers. EAGC facilitates efficient, structured and profitable grain trade in the Eastern Africa region by advocating for an enabling environment, training and capacity building, provision of market information and developing systems for structured trade among others. Gerald is a seasoned management professional with over 20 years experience in senior management having worked with several private companies in fast moving consumer goods (fmcg) including tobacco, dairy, coffee and alcoholic beverages, in senior management positions. Gerald holds a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & Geography both from Egerton University, Njoro Kenya.
